Future Industries

In addition to tourism, a major source of employment in Jerusalem comes from its thriving academia. Largely due to its position as the axis for world religion, Jerusalem covets a presence and growth in education that is truly unparalleled. All of the major world Jewish institutions of higher education already exist here, as does the world headquarters of Judaism’s Conservative movement. Furthermore, Jerusalem is home to a significant number of some of the world’s elite secular and technological academic institutions. The educational ‘industry’ creates jobs for the teachers and professionals and economic growth through ‘extended-stay educational tourism.’

Healthcare, Hi-Tech, Film Production and Conventions in industries including medical, computing and engineering are expected to be significant beneficiaries of the Jerusalem 5800 plan. Companies like Intel, Teva, AVX, Amdocs and NDS have current operations established in Jerusalem and form the foundation for similar organizations to compete for talent.
